HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH ME! | around the world theme, food, decor, & tips

I hosted an "Around The World" themed dinner party last month and I'm sharing all of the tips and tricks I used to diy the decor and plan the menu. Hosting dinners has quickly become one of my favorite ways to entertain my friends and loved ones. My friend group takes turns hosting an event each month, so when my turn came around, I just knew good food had to be involved! This party had a family style vibe, and everyone was tasked with bringing a dish from a country of their choosing.

People often tell me they struggle with hosting events, but I'm here to show you that intimate dinners are a great place to start! In this video, you will see me: diy some decor such as welcome signs, place card menus, and party favors, as well as plan ahead by decorating and cooking the day before to save time and make hosting stress free.

For appetizers we had Dominican Frituras, Italian Garlic Bread, and Greek Gyros; the main course was made up of Jamaican Oxtails and Rice & Peas, as well as Trinidadian Curry Chicken with Buss Up; dessert was Puerto Rican Quesitos and United Kingdom Strawberry Shortcake.

I used Chef Kwame Onwuachi's recipe for his braised oxtails for this dinner party & they were divine! This recipe can be found in his cookbook "My America; Recipes from A Young Black Chef".

For entertainment, I made sure to have a few games ready for my guests to enjoy and some small prizes to make them even more eager to participate. I premade a playlist throughout the week just by listening to my music library on shuffle and adding songs that I liked to a dinner party playlist, that way I didn't have to figure out the music on the day of.
