The writer of “A Short History of Nearly Everything” talks with Paul Willis

Bill Bryson was well known as a travel writer before his curiosity about why and how we know what we know led to him writing A Short History of Nearly Everything. This best-selling book is a lay person’s guide the investigation of space, time, evolution, genetics and all the other big stuff that has so transformed our understanding of the world.
How do we know what is in the centre of the Earth, or what a black hole is, or where the continents were 600 million years ago? How did anyone ever figure these things out?

This quirky, energetic and highly entertaining interview with Bill was recorded at the Perth Writers Festival in 2005. It was produced as part of the ABC’s made-for-vodcast series, Talking Science.
