A PROFILE OF MYSELF AND WHOLE CREDIT IN MY LONG MUSICAL JOURNEY DEDICATED TO MY *_"FATHER JOHN DAVID AND MOTHER PRATIMA DAVID."*::🙏🙏

IT was way back in 1981 when a famous and renowned journalist named MR R.T SAHANI wrote in a news paper column that MS SHEILA VERMA (nee MS SHEILA DAVID) started singing before she even learned to speak. At the age of 4, in the year 1961, at a public function, she gave a rendering of a semi-class Song in the “Tree Taal”.My parents immediately, realizing that it was no ordinary talent, put me on a war footing, at the footsteps of music maestros, and gurus of the likes of Pundit Maneckrao Thakurdas, who gave me a solid classical background for nearly 5 years. Than I was put on further to gurus GAUTAM MUKHERJI, LATE MOMIN KHAN, SHRI GHULAM MUSTAFA KHAN, PANDIT AJAY POHANKAR, LATE SHRI MAHAVIRJI, and SHRI PURSHOTTAM UPADHYAY. In the mean time, I graduated from one of the most reputed institutions in India, i.e. RUIA COLLEGE. During my association with RUIA COLEEGE, from the period 1973-1977, I with the blessings my mentors in the college, namely the erstwhile principal MR R.A KULKARNI, Mr. SHAHU RAJA, MS RITA DOCTOR, MS LALITA PARANJPE, and many more a number of awards came my way in various competitions organized by the UNIVERSITY OF BOMAY (MUMBAI). The highlight of my honor was when I was selected to represent RUIA COLLEGE, by none other than the vice-chancellor of BOMBAY UNIVERSITY, At the INTER-CULTURAL UNIVERSITY FESTIVAL FROM 24/12/1976 TO 31/12/1976 at Madras (now Chennai). And later in the year 1976-1977, as a student of RUIA COLLEGE, I bagged gold medal at the cultural youth festival organized by the UNIVERSITY OF BOMBAY. I further added a feather to my cap, when in 1979 I bagged the most coveted and one of the highest honors, the S D BURMAN award under the auspices of THE KAL-KE-KALAKAR SAMMELAN for the SUR-SINGAR SAMASAD.


Till 1988, I performed for various TV shows, Films, Music Companies, AND as a TOP GRADE ARTISTE of the esteemed ALL INDIA RADIO. All this was a combination of god’s gift to me of a soothing, melodious and mellifluous voice, also sincere backing from a family of singers with Father Shri JOHN DAVID, a well know singer himself, and mother Srimati PRATIMA DAVID, also a singer of her own era . Then came the biggest turn in my life, when in the year 1988, I got that one call from THE LATE LEGENDARY SINGER SHRI MANNADEY, to perform with him at a prestigious stage concert. There was no looking back from there and it turned out to be dreams come true. I had the Dream opportunity of performing with the LATE DADASAHEB PHALKE AWARD WINNER SHRI MANNADEY till 2013, a span of nearly 25 years and being acknowledged as the only co-singer of SHRI MANNADEY to last for such a long period. I travelled with him world over, like USA, UK, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, DUBAI, KUWAIT, and WEST INDIES, AND all over India. It was from him I gained one of the finest experiences, as he treated me like his own daughter. we enthralled not only the audience’s world over, but also SHRI MANNADEY who gave me the last blessings as well in 2013, just before his sad demise. Presently I am pursuing my career as a performing artiste, and also imparting and devoting time in giving seminars, and sessions in musical field, rendering of music reminds one of the days of old when the masters of melody churned out tunes, lyrics which were rich in pathos, deep sentiments and some deep moving emotions which have survived even today after nearly a century by such inspired and admired artistes of the likes of………………………ME 🎤🙌🙏🙌
