Born to Chinese immigrants, Andrew Tan grew up with very little. His dad worked in a factory, and his mom sold food on the street. To survive, Andrew took odd jobs from high school to college while studying accounting.

In 1989, he founded Megaworld—right in the middle of a political and financial crisis. But with a strong work ethic and a dream, he turned it into the top condo and office developer in the Philippines.

He later built the Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI)—now one of the largest Filipino-owned conglomerates. AGI includes:

🏢 Megaworld Corporation – The country’s #1 township and condo developer, named “Best Managed Company” and “Best in Corporate Governance” by Finance Asia.
🥃 Emperador Distillers, Inc. – Home of Emperador Brandy, the world’s best-selling brandy in 2006. Its ads focus on success and values, not just glamour.
🍔 Golden Arches Development Corp. – The official operator of McDonald’s Philippines.

Tan pioneered the Live-Work-Play-Learn lifestyle in townships like McKinley Hill and Newport City. Even during the pandemic, he opened Torre Caleido in Madrid, Spain, and reported ₱38.6B in revenue in 2022.

In 2023, his group launched a ₱1.8B condo project in Cavite and is set to invest ₱350B more over five years to build new townships.
