Описание к видео 13 Protecting MDF sub-roadbeds | How to make your layout firm and level for years in the future.

I have been a bit anxious in general about my approach to building my baseboards. I am using an open frame technique which I think most people would accept, however I also have the requirement to keep the layout as light as possible, so I can easily remove it from the room if required when I move house (which I surely will). As a result my frame is made of 9mm ply which has an unhelpful tendency to twist out of shape, and my sub-roadbeds are made of 6mm MDF. I went for 6mm because I saw that Model Railways Solutions make their helix kits out of 6mm MDF, and I figured that if it was good enough for them, it would be for me too. However on reflection I realise that in a helix you want to keep the headroom down, but that need nt me a consideration elsewhere.
Anyway, I think I can cope with the problems of the ply, by L-girdering some bits. However I do worry abut the MDF sagging. I have sent the week playing around with a couple of different products to try to seal the MDF of environmental moisture, as well as adding bracing underneath each of the sub-roadbeds to add strength. With any luck it will do the trick - if not I will have to start again in a few years time :(
