The pulley is a three inch steel ring tied to a small float. I tie a 16 oz sinker to the ring to keep the rope from twisting. It won't work well without it. I'm using 300ft of 3/8 poly rope (black) as well as 100ft of 3/8 rope to tie off to shore and 100ft of nylon anchor rope. Care must be taken to keep the rope untwisted as you put every in the basket. I pull up the anchor first and put that in the basket then pull myself to shore.
