Carl Sommer, president of Reliable EDM, demonstrates the incredible capabilities of wire electrical discharge machining. Wire EDM can machine parts to .0001”. That’s 1/25th the thickness of a human hair. Sommer uses a snowflake they machined to show the amazing accuracy of wire EDM. The video also demonstrates a unique feature of wire EDM that it can create tapered parts because the upper and lower head of wire EDM can be programmed to move independently.
