Warren Buffett learned value investing from Benjamin Graham, who is known as the father of value investing. A method Graham suggests in "The Intelligent Investor" is estimating future cash flows of a business to find its intrinsic value.
Calculate the present value of each future cash flow.Next, add up the present values to find the intrinsic value of the stock.
Value investors use the intrinsic value of a business as one of the most important factors to determine if a stock is a buy, along with a margin of safety - one of the keys to value investing.
