Our model portrays a mysterious woman named Fanny.

Fanny steps closer to the truth,

should love be preserved,
or must it be erased?

Zack first saw Fanny at two in the morning,
outside a convenience store.
She stood there filming, holding a cup of melting iced coffee,
staring at a wall where nothing seemed to exist.
Her camera light was on as she asked the question
she always asked on her show:
“Do you really believe in urban legends?”

Zack didn’t answer.
Because he knew—
there was something hidden behind that wall.

Zack is not human.
At least, not entirely.
He has lived for more than nine hundred years,
a nine-tailed fox working for the Afterlife Order Administration.
Officially, he handles supernatural anomalies.
In truth, he cleans up the cracks between worlds,
erasing what should never be seen.

And Fanny is the one person
he failed to send away in a previous life.

Humans are meant to lose all memories when they reincarnate.
Time is too heavy to carry otherwise.
Zack thought he was used to it—
watching her live again and again,
forgetting him every time.
Until this lifetime,
when she chose to become a producer
investigating urban legends,
as if fate were deliberately pushing her back
to the edge of every forbidden door.

Fanny kept capturing shadows that shouldn’t exist.
Her show was reported for being “too real,”
yet its popularity kept rising for the same reason.
The closer she got to the truth,
the more often Zack appeared nearby—
erasing footage, closing exits,
saving her life without her ever knowing.
Each intervention left a mark,
a small cut in the rules that could one day tear open.

One night, Fanny looked at him and asked,
“Have we met before?”
Zack denied it.
Because if he admitted the truth,
the system would mark her—
and marked people don’t live long.

After that, something changed.
Fanny began to notice
how strangely well he knew her.
Her fear of elevator mirrors.
Her habit of gripping her sleeve in the rain.
Her coffee without sugar.
“You know too much,” she said.
Zack said nothing.

Everything truly collapsed during a filming accident.
Fanny captured a real monster—
not a shadow, not a glitch.
An order flashed through Zack’s mind:
Eliminate the witness.

For the first time, he disobeyed.
He hid the evidence.
He took the punishment instead.
And the rules answered ruthlessly—
by throwing him into the wrong timeline.

In a past era filled with trams, old newspapers,
and the shadow of war,
Zack met his younger brother—
another nine-tailed fox.
Mocked for his obsession,
Zack still chose to fight his way back.
Through blood, deals, and chaos,
he returned for one reason only:
to see Fanny again.

When he finally came back,
the city was unchanged.
The night looked the same.
And Fanny stood in front of him.

“I remember now,” she said.

She remembered the love,
the deaths,
every time he watched her walk away.
With memory restored, the rules began to collapse.
Humans and monsters are not allowed to love.
There is only one ending.

So Zack chose another path.
He rewrote her fate,
taking every consequence onto himself,
sending her back to safety—
and back to forgetting.

Morning came quickly.
The city returned to normal.
The show stopped airing.
Urban legends vanished as if nothing had happened.

Fanny stood on the street,
feeling an unexplained emptiness in her chest.
The only thing she remembered
was a single sentence,
as if someone had whispered it to her long ago:

“If there is another life,
please don’t look for me.”

Beyond the recorded world,
a fox who had lost his tails
walked into the darkness,
never turning back.

Sometimes, love is not staying together—
but remembering,
and choosing to let the other forget.
