Perth Stadium has installed drop-in pitches in preparation for the upcoming Test match between Australia and Pakistan.

Australia, the reigning champions of the World Cup and ICC World Test Championship, are set to face Pakistan at Perth Stadium from December 14-18, presenting Western Australia on the global stage.

The wicket square features five drop-in pitches, each weighing approximately 25 tonnes. The entire installation process spanned over two days. Since February, the drop-in wicket has been carefully curated at the stadium, receiving daily attention from WA Cricket curators in the nursery located adjacent to the outdoor practice wickets on the stadium's northern side.

Constructed with the same local clay and grass species as the pitches at the WACA Ground, the drop-in wicket undergoes continuous monitoring during its growth to faithfully replicate the ground's renowned fast and bouncy nature.

In a noteworthy feat, last week, the 30-meter-long, 40-tonne cricket wicket transporter, the only one of its kind in Western Australia, moved the drop-in wicket onto the stadium playing surface. Following this, Perth Stadium will host five home matches for the Perth Scorchers in BBL 13, with the reigning titleholders playing their first home match on December 20.
