Deadwood. One of the most famed towns from the history of the American West and the setting for Paramount Network's TV show DEADWOOD. A famous gold rush town in the south western corner of South Dakota, Deadwood served as home to lawman Wild Bill Hickok who was the victim of an assassination - coining the famous poker hand "dead man's hand" while he was holding Aces and Eights, in a seat he would normally sit in he was shot in the back by Jack McCall. Apologies for the awkward cut at the end of this video. As I was leaving the daily re-enactment of the assassination of Wild Bill Hickok was about to take place. A tradition that is now sculpted into the history and educates travelers and tourists alike on the rich history of Deadwood.
