The Library of Congress collected data during the 10 years it had two rare maps on display in anoxic/hypoxic encasements. The results obtained from optical, chemical and volatiles testing is critical to future exhibits and planning for preservation. Scientists from the Library, the National Archives and the Smithsonian Institute discussed these data findings and their respective approaches to anoxic/hypoxic encasements.
