In this week's edition of What's New At TTU, we’re checking out two of the most modern labs on campus with Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Lab 221 and CoMC Esports Competition and Streaming Lab.

Esports is something that is gaining momentum around the world, primarily with youth. Texas Tech hopes to attract the next generation of students with streaming, competitive gaming and graphic design aspirations. This shiny new facility will certainly help.

This lab is a space where you can work on homework, explore your interests, or take some leisure time and game for fun. This space allows multiple people to compete simultaneously. With enough bandwidth to eliminate delays in gameplay.

The second lab we’re checking out in this episode is Chemistry Lab 221. This lab has seen a renovation that was funded through the Presidential Forum initiative by the Office of the President. This renovation included demolition, new seating, new flooring, finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades. The highlights of this 1,000-square-foot renovation are the new higher-efficiency fume hoods and snorkels; these should provide a better overall experience for students and instructors.
