Diving Clear Lake | Frigid Wetsuit Dive

Описание к видео Diving Clear Lake | Frigid Wetsuit Dive

Hope you enjoyed the video. In this video, we dive Clear Lake in Oregon, a lake famous for some of the clearest water in the world for diving. However, as you can see in the video, the visibility was very poor in the areas we chose to dive initially and we ended up having to scrap our plan because of it.

The original plan was to start with a deep dive by the "underwater forest" that the lake is known for. According to other diving accounts and people who boat around in the lake, the dive site should be visible from the surface. As we surface swam South East from the dock, the visibility quickly turned poor and we couldn't see more than 10 feet down. Despite doing a lot of research into the dive beforehand, because none of us had dived the site before, we were depending on being able to see the trees for our exact location to descend (we knew the general location in the lake). Not liking the visibility, we decided to get out and walk back towards the dock where we could just have some fun in shallower water.

In the end, we did a 30 min dive with a max depth of 50ft. The surface temp was around 41 deg F and the temp below the surface was 38 deg F. We scrapped our second dive.

As we mention in the video, if anyone knows why the visibility was so poor, please let us know. I've only heard great things about this lake, but we got the complete opposite of what we'd heard.
