In this video, the historical growth of the some of the most used social media apps is illustrated comprehensively. Besides, the social media history and evolution is explained in chronological order. More specifically, Facebook officially attained the number one #SocialMedia spot in August 2009 and has been holding onto the honorable title for more than 10 years now. This statement disproves the recent worry of Facebook losing popularity among the online community. On the other hand, we also observe the rise and fall of other popular social media sites and platform such as Myspace, StumbleUpon, Vkontakte and Reddit.

P.S. We apologize for the fact that certain social media sites like Snapchat and WeChat are not included in this statistical display due to technical reason. While the inclusion of these social media platform could have potentially caused a shift in the rankings for #2-#10 spot on the list, the gigantic percentage share advantage as a result of the huge #Facebook popularity would be unlikely to be eliminated completely anytime soon.

2) How many of these social media platforms you are totally unfamiliar with or have never heard of?
3) How would you predict the future ranking of these competing sites will play out in, say, the next 10 years? Will Facebook still remain too strong to be toppled or will it be ultimately drowned out by competition from other giant social media sites like Pinterest, Youtube, Twitter or even “nobodies” social media apps that pop out of nowhere?
