0:00 intro
Especially during the autumn season those dark brown tones work great on certain landscape photos. This look is easily achieved with Adobe Lightroom and works well as a preset if you want!

My goal here was to first make it a bit darker while fading the blacks just a bit. Then, of course adjust the white balance, hues and saturation to get a warm, desaturated orange-brown look.

0:25 1. Basic Adjustments
I started by changing the profile to Adobe Standard for less saturation and a bit less contrast. Then, I adjusted the white balance making everything warmer. I brought down the highlights and the shadows to make everything darker. To not loose too much contrast, I increased the whites. For the faded look I simply increased the blacks slightly (of course this can also be achieved with the tone curve).

3:17 2. Local Adjustments
First, I used a radial gradient to add a vignetting effect by bringing down the exposure from the borders of the photo. Next, I added a linear gradient over the whole image, then subtracted the subject to get a nice background mask. Here, I further dropped the exposure, the texture and clarity to get a smooth background.

For a little “special effect” I added another radial gradient in the top left corner and increased the blacks / whites to add some fake sunlight coming in.

5:50 3. Color Grading
I played around with the red and yellow hues a bit while dropping the orange and yellow saturation a bit. The saturation for all the other color tones were dropped all the way to only have the warm colors in the photo. For the split toning I added a very subtle warm tone to the mid-tones and the highlights. Finally, In the calibration tab, I dropped the blue hue for richer red tones.
