The Democratic Party is Attacking the 1st Amendment

A major campaign theme for the Democrats this election year is "preserving democracy." But while the Republicans get well-deserved scorn for their attacks on democracy, the Democrats themselves deserve scorn as well for allowing, if not orchestrating, a series of attacks on pro-Palestinian protesters by police and Zionist counter-protesters.

Moreover in Chicago, our "progressive" mayor has rejected all permit applications for protests against this August's Democratic National Conventions, effectively nullifying the 1st Amendment.

Veteran organizer Andy Thayer, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network, relates the absurdity of having to sue in federal court for the right to protest.

The Gay Liberation Network is part of the "Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws" coalition planning an LGBTQ+ / Reproductive Justice march on the eve of the Democratic Convention in Chicago. Permit or no permit, Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws will march at 5 pm, Sunday, August 18 at Chicago's Water Tower Park (corner of N. Michigan Ave. and Pearson Street).
