So yeah, it’s pretty much what you think - I took those old Vine clips of Dallon doing his Dad character, cleaned them up a bit, then laid them over an original instrumental track of mine. Originally, the track I used was a more harder “gangsta rap” kinda beat, but decided to go with a more chilled out, almost “safe” sounding kinda beat instead... something that a Rappin’ Dad would think is “ill”... then topped it all off with the most simple sounding record scratching I could come up with. I’m no Kid Koala, but I can promise you the scratching was purposely lame-ified to something a Rappin’ Dad would think sounded “fresh”.
And that’s about it... I’m pretty happy with how it turned out though, what do you think?

• REMIX Rappin’ Dad!

Are you into editing audio? Perhaps you’re a DJ, or maybe a music producer, perhaps a mash-up...er? Maybe you’re into video editing? Regardless, I’ve put together all the original files I used to make this video, both audio and video, into a folder on my Google Drive for anyone interested in making their own version of Rappin’ Dad. I also included leftover music stems not used on my version, but sound similar to the ones I did use (for those who don’t have a library of sounds and beats they’ve been collecting over the years at their disposal - yes I know, I’m a music nerd) for some additional options.
Use your imagination - make an EDM version, or a R&B version. Hell, make a Country Western version or a abstract Latin Interpretation. Get creative. Deconstruct the version I made, chop up the vocals to make new and weird verses that don’t make any sense. Doesn’t matter what you come up with, as long as it’s different and interesting. Have fun with it. Then come back to this video and link your version in the comment section so we can hear it...
