Flaring Gas - there are several reasons for flaring gas. One is a safety reason, as well as testing of the well. The flaring of the gas allows the operator to control the pressure of the well, and adjust accordingly. When the pressure of the well increases an automated valve is triggered to release the pressure through what is known as the flare stack.

Gathering Line - a.k.a. the "sales" line is the pipeline that interconnects between the various pieces such as: production separators, line heaters, oil heaters, pump units, and storage tanks.

Kick - a forced fluid flow, where the formation fluids push into the wellbore. This causes a “kick” in pressure.

16/64 choke - is used to increase/decrease the pressure from the well head. It’s essentially like putting your finger over a water hoes to force the water through a smaller opening and therefore increasing pressure.
