The only main protagonists to do so in the series are

Tony Cipriani - Originally a side character in Grand Theft Auto 3(2001) but was brought back as the main character of the Playstation Portable’s GTA Liberty City Stories(2005)

Victor Vance - Originally only featured at the beginning of GTA Vice City(2002) but was also brought back as the main character of GTA Vice City Stories In 2006

Claude Speed - The protagonist of GTA 3(2001) he can briefly be seen in 2 cutscenes in GTA San Andreas(2004)

Johnny Klebitz - The protagonist of one of GTA 4’s DLCs The Lost and The Damned he returned in only one cutscene in Grand Theft Auto 5(2013)
