To set the tone for my new year, I decided to take a solo trip back to New York City for a complete creative refresh. As a fine artist, I knew I needed to start 2026 by grounding myself in the places that first sparked my vision. At the heart of this "refresh" was a long-awaited return to the Studio Museum in Harlem.

I used to live in Harlem, and would attend Uptown Fridays at the museum. This was my first time stepping back into that sacred space since moving away from New York—and my first time witnessing the museum’s stunning reopening and transformation.

I traveled from Chicago to New York to reconnect with the creative ancestral energy that lives within these walls. This isn't just a museum tour; it turned into a time for me to connect to the lineage and ancestors that inform my art practice.
