In Part 1 we will be building The Grasshopper II 2017 Transmission and change the bearings of The Grasshopper 2005. An excellent opportunity for a closer look at the similarities and differences between The Grasshopper II's and The Grasshopper's gear box and rear axle.

This build covers the Parts Bag A and the Step 1-5 of the assembly kit manual. Well, to be more precise we're hoppin' over Step 1 ('charging the battery') and focusing on the actual build:

Step 2-5 Preparations 1:06
Step 2 Attaching rear left shaft, bevel and counter gear 3:31
Step 3 Attaching rear right shaft and bevel gear 6:05
Step 4 Differential spur gear and gear box assembly 7:38
Step 5 Attaching motor and shock mounts 9:22
Step 2-5 Final Result 12:21

B-Parts (item 10005276)
C-Parts (item 10555115)
Gear Bag (item 19335067)
Type 380 Motor w/ Pinion Gear (item 17435039)

The Tamiya Grasshopper II 2017 (model 58643), released the 22nd of March 2017, is a re-release of the original Tamiya Grasshopper II (model 58074), released the 9th of August 1988.
