A Note to Caregivers, Parents, Educators and Friends of Simple Gift Schoolhouse from Founder, Linda Weise:

Simple Gift Series came about over years of working with children, parents and educators of our smallest friends, ages birth through 5 years. This has been my life’s work since 1998 when I was first asked to bring music to this generation of youngsters and their families while leading the Colorado Springs Conservatory. I have never regretted focusing on this area of access to the arts and creativity as I believe it is essential to all humans at all ages- especially during our very early years. I believe that once access and appreciation is provided, a whole new world of creativity and possibilities becomes available and changes the course of lives- I have witnessed it thousands of times!
The content is informed by those very individuals needing it and grounded in principles of early childhood development and growth. I worked tirelessly with teachers and leadership from our regional and national HeadStart programs. There are experts in brain development, social emotional wellness, as well as cognitive and behavioral health. We include elements of all these in addition to literacy, phonemic awareness, large and small motor skills activities, numeracy, spatial in every episode- all designed to be transferred to home, classroom, centers or wherever our ‘littles’ are! I am still surrounded by these very individuals and continue to meet and work with even more as our every changing world impacts the lives and learning of our children.
Significant is the very ‘simple’ idea that there is a foundation of core values intrinsic to our children’s health and well-being; gratitude, faith, kindness, empathy, imagination, creativity, sharing and so many more. They are all there- simply, gracefully and present. For you, your family and your child. Ironically, as our world becomes faster and louder and we understand even more how important these very values are- I am struck by the importance, brilliance and significance of these episodes and the work to come. I hope you enjoy all that we are sharing!
