Mike Schlotman, Chair, and Lisa Sauer, Vice Chair, of the Board for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) discuss developments at CVG with Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann.

“The biggest change I’ve seen at the airport… since I joined the board is the diversification of revenue streams with the use of the amount of space that we have out there and the foresight of the board to have started leasing some of that space off to third parties, primarily for warehousing… But that’s been very important to us to be able to have that revenue stream… We’re now 7th or 8th in the country as far as the amount of cargo that CVG handles. We’re up 70% in the last five years in cargo. And without the revenue that generates, and the leases generate, our ability to continue to do what we do during these COVID times would be dramatically different.” – Mike Schlotman, Chair

“One of the things that people used to think about, in history, was that CVG used to be one of the highest fare airports, however, over the past ten years really that’s been going down and down based on what Mike has been talking about which is the diversification of the airlines that run through CVG. And, actually, we are currently the tenth lowest fare out of the top 100 airports in the United States, so it’s a great place to be. Our fares are significantly lower than the average, over $100 a ticket lower than the average United States fare. People should change their mindset and think of CVG as a low-price airport based on the airlines that fly through.” – Lisa Sauer, Vice Chair
