Popular Malaysian rapper Namewee is under investigation for the murder of a Taiwanese social media influencer in Kuala Lumpur.

Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh was found dead in a hotel bathroom on Oct. 22. Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was reported to have been staying in the same room. Authorities say he tested positive for several illegal drugs and charged him for drug use and possession. If convicted of murder, Wee could face 30 to 40 years in prison or even the death penalty.

The rapper reported to a police station in the Malaysian capital early on Nov. 5. Wee has denied drug use and involvement in Hsieh’s death.
