Cues to tell your horse to Roll, and why you should let your horse Roll. Rolling is positive in so many ways for your horse. As a natural horsemanship fan, my horse appreciates it when I allow him to do what is natural, but I must teach him when, and where it is ok. In this video I show you my cues to tell my horse it is ok to lie down and roll. We discuss why it is good and when it is best for your horse to roll. We discuss cues to match steps with my horse, like horses naturally do, to ask my horse to do as I am doing (without rolling myself😁). Horses love to roll, but it is dangerous to ignore lessons on this topic for your horse. You must teach them several things about this topic, if you want your horse to know what they can or cannot do. My horse learned my cues because I simply did them whenever he wanted to roll, so he eventually associated my cues with rolling over time (association). Gunner is in the process of learning to stay down, so we discuss that in this video, but the focus of this video is how to use these lie down cues and where to stand to give these cues where your horse can see them. While feeding a horse that is lying down, stay away from the horse's legs and be ready to move out of the way at all times to avoid injury or worse. Be safe, and get help if you need it to stay safe.
