A public dialogue between British Doctor of Philosophy Timothy Morton and Russian Doctor of Philosophy Dmitry Galkin (Tomsk State University). The discussion will revolve around eco-anxiety and ecology as practical causes to reconsider the theoretical constructs behind humankind’s relationship with nature.

About the speakers:
Timothy Morton is a philosopher, artist, philologist, and interdisciplinary researcher whose work has included collaborations with Björk and Olafur Eliasson. He is the author of perhaps the most popular contemporary books providing a new perspective on ecology, Dark Ecology and Being Ecological. As an adherent of Object-Oriented Ontology and post-human ethics, Timothy Morton believes that the end of the world is already upon us, thus freeing philosophy from humanity’s ambition to retain creative control over the world.

Dmitry Galkin is a renowned philosopher on topics of digital culture and trends in new media art, as well as a lecturer and curator. Galkin’s research focuses on digital culture in the context of its collision with biological culture and the possibility of an alternative plane of existence and thought that could afford humans the opportunity to control another reality.

The project is part of the UK – Russia Creative Bridge programme 2021-2022 supported by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow.
