My ECU was playing dead!

When replacing the upper ground strap on my 2009 BMW 328 (N52) I didn't notice that the main grounding point for the ECU also runs to the same grounding point in the engine bay. The cable fell off when I removed the upper ground strap and so my ECU stopped getting power.

If your car appears to be turning on, cranks but won't start, attempts to crank, and your fuel pump appears to be running continuously it may be that your ECU is not turning on. 

I could tell there was a problem at the ECU because when I scanned the car other modules were getting power however the ECU was not responding.

This is a 2009 BMW 328xi Touring with the N52 Engine running the MSV80 DMW (ECU).
