Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024 - Foreigner - Band Induction Speeches pt 3

Had the distinct honor to attend the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame Indution Ceremony in Cleveland, OH on October 19th, 2024 at the horrendously named Rocket Mortage FieldHouse. The night was full of unforgettable moments from Foreigner and Peter Frampton taking the stage to uproarious respect and applause. The latter joined by Keith Urban and the former performed with a lineup of heavy hitters, including Chad Smith, Slash, Sammy Hagar (...and Demi Lovato and Kelly Clarkson, I guess), as well as founding vocalist Lou Gramm. An outstanding tribute to A Tribe Called Quest, undertaken by Dave Chapelle, Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes, Common and De La Soul was a high-energy moment. The love and respect shown to Dionne Warwick was off the charts and Cher's performance was more impactful than I had initially thought (she will always be Rocky Dennis', cool Biker Chick mother to me), and the most represented fandom in attendance was loud in their approval of the Dave Matthews Band's induction. Tom Morello inducting the MC5 was long overdue and the fact that not a single member was alive to accept this much-delayed honor is a stain on the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. Another long-delayed inductee, and, by far, the largest reason for my attendance, Ozzy Osbourne was unable to perform, but a monstrous tribute from Chad Smith, Steve Stevens, Wolfgang Van Halen, Adam Wakeman, and Andrew Watt. As well as vocalists Maynard James Keenan, Billy Idol and, for some reason, Jelly Roll, but seeing longtime Guitarist Zakk Wylde and former longtime Bass Player (and current Metallica four-stringer) Robert Trujillo playing "No More Tears" together again brought a tear to my eye. Capped by a Dave Matthews Band cover of the Talking Heads' classic "Burning Down The House", the nearly six-hour show was a celebration, full of outstanding performers and outstanding performances.
