The MFA candidates walk us through the Florida Room: 2022 MFA Exhibition in the UCF Art Gallery.

Exhibition Dates: February 17, 2022 - March 11, 2022

Florida Room explores identities and histories through the juxtaposition of outward and inward thoughts, emotions and physical spaces using a variety of mediums and processes. The exhibition showcases the thesis work of Master of Fine Arts candidates in the Studio Art & Design MFA track at the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design: Anthony Mancuso, Ryan Price, Hunter Pylant, Jeremy Robinson, Sheherazade Thenard and Forrest Wilson.

Anthony Mancuso explores painting and printmaking to depict real and imagined domestic spaces that transcend a mundane once-over glance and encourage viewers to enter a formal meditation on space, place, and routine. Ryan Otero Price is a multidisciplinary artist who navigates his personal history through nostalgia and escapism. Hunter Pylant’s sculptures explore memories that involve themes of rural culture, upbringing and heritage. Jeremy Robinson’s sculptures and installations address themes of tangibility and ephemerality within domestic space, memory and trauma. Sheherazade Thenard’s paintings explore personal and cultural identity through figuration in lush conjured spaces. Forrest Wilson’s drawings and paintings explore queer aesthetics and personal experiences of love through allegorical figuration.
