About On Your Marks!
On Your Marks! is a theatre piece for percussion trio on marimba and xylophone. The title conjures multiple images to mind:
1) Runners on a track. As they place their toe on the starting line, they wait to hear the words, “On your marks... get set… go!”
2) Actors on a stage. The director shouts, “Places!” as they make their way towards the x that marks the spot.
3) The madcap mischief of the Marx brothers in their films from the early 20th century. (Well, it's a homophone anyway!)
Written for Brain Pocket Trio, On Your Marks combines the motoring rhythms of a runner with an actor’s staging cues in homage to comedy.
