Here's a video on how to change the pattern length on the Roland R-8. The default time signature is always 4/4 and the pattern is one bar (4 beats) long. Both time signature and pattern length can be modified. It is done by first erasing/formatting the pattern. When a pattern is erased by using the Shift+Clear+Enter buttons, these parameters can be set. They cannot be changed without erasing the pattern first.
