Easter Sunday "Salubong" Procession 2019 - Lumban, Laguna

Описание к видео Easter Sunday "Salubong" Procession 2019 - Lumban, Laguna

This is a procession depicting and re-enacting the story of the first Easter when, early Sunday morning after Sabbath, three days after the crucifixion of Jesus, the holy women disciples, carrying myrrh and spices so as to anoint Jesus' body with, went to the tomb where the body of the Lord was laid only to find out that it was empty. An angel appeared before them and told them not to look for the living among the dead, and that the Lord has risen.

Apostles Simon Peter and John the beloved also went to the tomb to see for themselves what the holy women told them and likewise, found nothing but the shroud and sudarium used to wrap the Lord's body and head.

The narration accompanying the procession was lifted from the Holy Gospels written by the four evangelists.

The story of the risen Christ's appearance to his mother Mary was taken from the "Pasiong Mahal" and is read while the carriage carrying the image of the resurrected Christ enters the church's patio.
