Leia Organa (born Leia Amidala Skywalker) is a Star Wars character, senator, daughter of Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) and Padmé Amidala, sister of Luke Skywalker. In the movies, her role was played by Carrie Fisher. She was sensitive to the Force, as were her father, brother and son.
She was born 19 years before the Battle of Yavin in a medical facility in the Polis Massa asteroid belt. As Leah and Luke's mother died in childbirth and their father went over to the dark side, the children were separated and hidden. Leia was looked after by a couple from Alderaan who did not have children of their own - Queen Breha Organa and Viceroy Bail Organa. Anakin Skywalker's daughter thus grew up in the royal family and gained the title of princess while preparing for a career in diplomacy.
Leia followed in her adoptive father's footsteps and went into politics, she was the youngest senator in history. She supported the Rebellion, used her political immunity, and her disposition unit (Tantive IV Corvette) to reach the centers of rebellion.
