The banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed its willingness to contest elections in Jammu & Kashmir. JeI leader Ghulam Qadir Wani said that they want to contest the polls if the ban on the outfit is revoked. JeI was banned in 2019 under UAPA. JeI was seen as the driving force behind the separatist movement in Kashmir.
