SCAD Alliance Board Member Rebecca Freeman moderates an Ask the Experts panel on migraine headaches and SCAD. Panelists addressed a range of patient questions submitted in advance. Many thanks to the clinicians who served on our panel:

Dr. Sarah Tsiaras is a board certified cardiologist in the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) cardiovascular division, who sees patients at the MGH Heart Center offices in downtown Boston and Waltham. She is a member of the integrated SCAD care team and specializes in echocardiography, non-invasive cardiology, and general clinical cardiology care. Dr. Tsiaras is one of the primary cardiologists caring for and enrolling SCAD patients into the iSCAD Registry at MGH.

Dr. Deena Kuruvilla is a board certified neurologist, headache specialist and Director of the Westport Headache Institute. She has held clinical appointments at the Yale University School of Medicine, and conducted research on medical devices, complementary and integrative medicine, and procedural approaches for the treatment of headache disorders. Dr. Kuruvilla has been an invited reviewer and author for peer-reviewed publications including Headache, Cephalalgia, JAMA, and BMJ. Her research and clinical work has been featured in the press, including Prevention Magazine, Neurology Today, and The Wall Street Journal.

Dr. Anne O’Duffy is Associate Professor of Neurology specializing in stroke at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She joined the faculty at VUMC in 2001. Board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology, Dr. O’Duffy is an attending physician in Stroke and General Neurology at Vanderbilt. Dr. O’Duffy’s research interests focus on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of cerebrovascular disease, as well as stroke in women.
