All Medical Education is Simulation – December 5, 2019

Unlike most higher education, the primary focus of medical education is not student self actualization, it is patient care and the outcomes of care. There is therefore an implied if not actual patient presence in all aspects of medical education. Simulation is about abstracting patients in to various representations for educational purposes. Dr. Ellaway will consider whether all medical education could be considered to be a form of simulation given the inescapable abstractions and representations of patients that permeate the field.
