You know by now that D'Angelo has rapidly become my favorite comtemporary composer. When I listen, it's like going to school for composers, melding together all genres, instrumentations, self and a whole lot of the Universe into a song and to make it make musical sense, is genius.
Grab a cup joe, sit back and relax for a few to hear and feel the stirrings of a thoughtful and prolific composer who has skills as a pianist as well as a vocalist and many other instruments. The beginning of Really Love shows the depth of musical prowess there is inside this musical mind. I wanted to add on to my love of the Grammy Winning composition "Really Love" by finally sharing with you a live performance by D'Angelo preceeded by my other favorite from the "Voodoo" lp, "Spanish Joint". Spanish Joint was composed by D'Angelo and written about lost love. I know you get it. Sheer, unvarnished love, hurt and resilience. As the story goes, both these songs pertain to the same love.
