Patalkot: is located in Tamia Tehsil In Chhindwara District Of Madhya Pradesh, Patal Kot is 78 Kms from Chhidnwara, There are 12 Villages & 13 Hemlets at Patalkot, Total Population is around 2500, Patal Kot is horse shoe shaped area spread in 79 Square Kms, There are many ways to reach Patal kot but you have to get down 1000 stairs & 1 Kms walk on hills. It is believed after worshipping Shiva Meghnad went to Patal lok by this way only, This area is inhabited by Bharia & Gond Tribes, Bharia. This area is very rich in medicinal herbs, and local Vaidya which is called Bhumka knows about each & every herb and when some one is ill he goes to Bhumla, They have treatment for all desease.It is said this are was ruled by Bhosle Kings in 18th & 19th Centuaries, as This area is connected by a long tunnel from Pachmarhi of Hoshangabad District, After getting defeat by Britishers Bhosle Kings came to Patal Kot by that tunnel, and as area was untraceable they lived here. There are many villages where sun never reaches, many villages are in that position where sun reaches in mid day time for a short time. These people worship Meghnad. Initially these people were not using plow because they call Earth as there mother, now they use plow and do cropping after getting in touch with outer world, Now government has made stairs to reach place, Initially there were coming. with help of trees. Now They grow some crops, but as per local Bharias there forefathers said not to eat Wheat as it is cold by nature and because of that people get ill, They were eating Mahua Seeds, Mango, Seed of Mango was used to make Aata. They make daru by Mahua and drink, in Mango season they are very happy as ts there favurite food, they even eat Mango as Lunch Dinner, Now After using Maha seed, Mango, they sell them in Tamia Market which is 20 Kms from here and they purchase things like clothes, ladies buy ornaments. now they are connecting with outer world, still there are many people who have never seen outer world in there life. Now Tourism fair takes place in oct in first village of Patal kot Rated, where camping & adventure sports are done.
