TEACH THE 4 SPIRITUAL HABITS

It’s hard to know whether you’re making a meaningful difference in the lives of the kids you lead, right? So much
of your time is spent trying to get kids to settle down, not spill the glue, and not eat that thing they found on the
floor, that sometimes you wonder if you’ve made any kind of impact on their faith at all. So to help you make the
most of your time with kids, try thinking about spiritual growth in terms of these four spiritual habits:
1.
SPEND TIME WITH GOD:
Obvious, right? If these kids are ever going to have a relationship with God,
they need to make their faith personal. That starts with spending time with God on their own, even
if it’s just them looking at the Bible by themselves, talking to God, worshiping, and discovering their
way of connecting with God.
2.
SPEND TIME WITH OTHERS:
Bringing a God-loving community into the kids’ lives is the best thing
for them. Help them develop that community with you and with each other and hopefully, this will
help them understand the value of community later.
3.
USE THEIR GIFTS:
This one’s tricky because kids may still be discovering what they’re good at. But
look closely: there are signs of their gifts. Lean into those and let them know those things can be
used to serve God and others.
4.
SHARE THEIR STORY:
Make faith an everyday topic no matter the kids’ ages. Put it into their
context — they need to hear you talking about God often and what God has done. This consistent conversation will help develop their faith more than we think.
