Summary of The Sands of Dee
By Charles Kingsley

The poem The Sands of Dee tells the tragic story of a girl named Mary who went out alone to call the cattle home across the sands near the Dee river. Despite the wild western wind and dangerous rising tide, she walked into the mist-covered beach. Sadly, she never returned. Later, fishermen found her drowned, her golden hair floating in the sea. Though she died, it is said that her voice is still heard calling the cattle home across the sands. The poem reflects themes of nature’s power, loss, and lingering memory.
