1. Javac does not directly convert high-level language into a machine-understandable language instead, it converts your java instructions into an intermediate language called BYTECODE.

2. The file is known as the class file with the extension .class.
Once the class file is ready it can be executed in any machine which has JVM(Java Virtual Machine ) in it.

3. This Design makes java a platform-independent / Architectural neutral language but JVM dependent language.

JRE is Java Runtime Environment is required to be installed in the machine where we execute java application.
JRE consists of JVM ( Java Virtual Machine ).
We have JRE available for different operating systems, on the oracle website.
