Tour the Basilica of St. Thérèse of Lisieux | Catholic Destinations

Описание к видео Tour the Basilica of St. Thérèse of Lisieux | Catholic Destinations

Take a look inside the Basilica of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, built in honor of the 24-year-old French nun who is now a beloved saint and doctor of the Catholic Church! Learn about St. Thérèse's short but incredible life, see how her "little way" inspired the stained glass and mosaics inside the basilica, and peek into her childhood home of Le Buissonnets.

Quick facts:
-St. Thérèse is the universal patroness of missions and the secondary patroness of France
-The saint's tomb resides at the Carmelite convent in Lisieux, but the bones of her right arm are at the basilica
-Work on the basilica began in 1929, four years after Saint Thérèse was canonized

Behind-the-scenes fun:
This episode of Catholic Destinations was filmed on a 2006 pilgrimage to France during which the CatholicTV crew filmed rosaries and other shows in Lourdes, Paris, and Lisieux. When the crew first arrived in France, they were stopped by French officials because they didn't have the proper permission forms to bring all their camera equipment into the country. They apologized and thankfully managed to talk officials into letting them go!

Stay with us for Summer Vacation with Catholic Destinations throughout the month of July. Next week we bring you another episode from a sacred site!
