Perfect for festive occasions like Ganesh Chaturthi, these sweet treats combine the rich flavors of mawa with the tangy sweetness of cranberries. Follow along as Chef Anjali guides you through each step to create these beautiful and delicious modaks at home!

✨ Ingredients for Modak Mixture:

Ghee: 25 grams
Sugar: 50 grams
Dried Cranberries: 50 grams
Desiccated Coconut: 75 grams
Milk: 125 grams
Mawa (khoya): 25 grams
Milk Powder: 50 grams
Cranberry Juice: 25 grams

✨ Ingredients for Stuffing:

Mawa (khoya)
Dried Cranberries
👩‍🍳 Preparation Steps:

Boil the Milk:

First, boil the 125 grams of milk in a pan. Stir continuously until the milk reduces to half its original volume.
Add Sugar and Milk Powder:

Once the milk has reduced, add 50 grams of sugar. Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely.
Add 50 grams of milk powder and stir until fully incorporated.

Incorporate Remaining Ingredients:

Add 25 grams of mawa (khoya) and 75 grams of desiccated coconut to the mixture.
Pour in 25 grams of ghee, 25 grams of cranberry juice, and 50 grams of dried cranberries.
(Optional) Add one drop of food coloring for a vibrant appearance.
Mix everything thoroughly until the mixture thickens.
Prepare the Stuffing:

In a separate bowl, combine mawa and dried cranberries to create the stuffing.

Shape the Modak:

Grease the modak mold with ghee to prevent sticking.
Place a layer of the modak mixture inside the mold.
Add the mawa and cranberry stuffing in the center.
Cover the stuffing with another layer of the modak mixture, ensuring it is well-sealed.
Finalize:

Carefully remove the modak from the mold.
Decorate the top with a piece of golden leaf (golden perth) for an elegant finish.
📌 Tips:

Ensure the milk is stirred continuously to prevent it from sticking to the pan.
Adjust the sugar according to your taste preference.
For a vegan version, substitute dairy ingredients with plant-based alternatives.
If you can’t find dried cranberries, you can use fresh cranberries or other dried fruits as a substitute.
