At 11 a.m. today, both Houses of Parliament will reconvene as the BJP-led Centre and the Opposition parties remain at odds over Rahul Gandhi's recent comments in London and the Adani-Hindeburg controversy. Due to interruptions from both sides on Tuesday, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha adjourned immediately. The Indian Express received confirmation from insiders in the governing BJP that the Budget Session will not be able to proceed "with no business and complete logjam" till April 6. The administration would need to find a means to finish passing the Finance Bill in order to pass the Budget if the impasse was not resolved. The Budget will need to be passed if the impasse continues. According to a party source, the Budget will need to be enacted this week if the impasse continues. While the BJP has stepped up its criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and demanded that he retract his comments about Indian democracy in London, the Congress has categorically rejected this and has instead insisted that the government form a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to look into the Adani issue. Due to holidays like Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, the Parliament was recessed on Wednesday, leaving the government with two days to determine whether to suspend the session.
