Swambhuvo Manu's elder son was King Priyavrata. Priyavrata's elder son was Aagnidhra. He ruled the Jambudweepa and had a son called Nabhi. King Nabhi was not having children for a long time. Therefore, he performed a yagna together with his wife Meru Devi. Lord appeared in the sacrificial fire and granted a boon that Lord himself will be born as child to the couple. Canto 20 describes about birth and life of this child Rishabhadeva.
