Jeff Bien is an internationally acclaimed poet and musician, and highly regarded meditation, consciousness and spiritual practitioner. His work has been published, translated and performed in more than forty countries. He is the author of numerous books which have received critical acclaim in Canada and abroad, and his poetry has been the recipient of many awards. His newest collection, In a Time of No Song, with an introduction A.F. Moritz will be released in the fall of 2015, by Exile Editions.
True to Blake’s epigrammatic, ‘excess is the road to wisdom’, Bien’s own incendiary journey birthed the road to awakedness. His teaching work emphasizes the in-gathering of the many traditions, birthing non-separation, a lineage of awakedness and love, and it is this that distinguishes him from so many, in both the new age, and classical spiritual canon.
Widely regarded as a charismatic and compelling voice, he has recently begun to release a series of spiritual talks, and excerpts from his forthcoming books, which adds synthesis to both a personalized conversation with a young seeker and student, as well as more formal views of spirituality.
He has spent a lifetime of study and practice, and is fluent in a myriad of traditions, as well as formal academic study of both exoteric and esoteric teachings that bridge the mystical traditions of East and West.
His work is visionary in scope, and is reflected both in the written word, his music and the spiritus of explicit practice itself, excavating the heart of Christ consciousness in Hebraic wisdom tradition and integrating a trinity of meditation practice that includes; Buddhism, Sufism, and the Kabbala, with elements of unique breath-body movements borne of a nascent study of yoga and martial arts.
He is presently completing a book, "Songs of Non-Separation", a compendium of teachings that transcends the literal and allegorical, weaving the thread of the many mystical garments into one, “A Koan of Love” a collection of spiritual aphorism and poems and “Undressing the Illusion: Letters to Young Mystic” a compendium of letters culled from years of practice and study within various traditions are forthcoming.
"A Taste of Creation" and "Songs of Forgiveness and Prayer" are Bien’s latest recordings which bring together poems and songs, a conversation of consciousness, born of a lifelong adherence to an evolving spiritual practice, the musical reverie of a poet’s prayer.
