Abortion in Hindi | Definition, Classification and Causes of Abortion | Nursing Lecture

Abortion is the expulsion and extraction of an embryo & fetus before 20 weeks of gestation or weighing less than 500 gm. when is not capable of independent survival.

Here the definition, classifications, and causes are explained in Hindi.

Incidence -
- Most commonly abortions take place in the first trimester of a pregnancy before 12 weeks and in them also before 8 weeks of gestation.

- A most common cause of spontaneous abortion is Chromosomal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy and Structural abnormalities in the uterus in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

Classification / Types of abortion -

1. Spontaneous -
a. Isolated
b. Recurrent
Both are again divided into -
- Threatened Abortion
- Inevitable
- Complete
- Incomplete
- Missed
- Septic

2. Induced -
a. Legal (MTP)
b. Illegal - (Unsafe) Septic is more common

Causes-
1 Genetic/ Chromosomal Abnormalities
2 Structural Abnormalities
3 Infection
4 Endocrine and Metabolic disorder
5 Immunological Disorder
6 Maternal Medical Disorder
