The Story Behind Volver

Some time ago, Kira and I started working on a song together. We kept sending ideas back and forth until one day, everything just clicked. She sent me some vocals — her voice already fragile from illness, yet filled with something deeply special.

We planned for her to re-record them once she felt better, but sadly, her condition worsened, and she lost her voice — maybe forever. It was heartbreaking. So we decided to use those original takes, the ones that carried both her strength and her vulnerability.

I did everything I could to make them shine. And somehow, through the music, we created something truly beautiful.

Volver means “to return.”

it began as a song – a shared dream of music as medicine.
then life shifted.
surgery stole my voice.
silence followed.
in that silence, everything changed.
i thought our recordings were lost –
too broken.
i thought i was lost.
but listening again, we heard the truth inside the cracks –
the trembling, the breath, the imperfection.
it was more honest than anything
polished.

we stopped fixing.
we surrendered.
and what remained was real – flawed, alive, whole.

the deepest lesson?
let go.
embrace imperfection.
find the gold hidden in the wound.
