"I'm Bill Garry. I live here in Stratford, Connecticut, and this is our first winter storm on February 28th, which is obviously very surprising. You figure in November, December, January, we would have had snow. Nope. This is our first snow storm, the last day of February. No school today, which is wonderful. And it's a great day to be out here. A beautiful day to shovel snow for sure."

"This is highly unusual for the first snowstorm to come at the end of February. I didn't think we were gonna have snow at all. Today, I thought maybe we'd get an inch or two with a lot of rain, but, of course, here I'm wrong. We'll see. My guess is we're gonna have a snowy March, so we'll see. But we've been blessed to not have too much snow this season. But this is our first one. It's great snow to make snowmen."

And this is, I just bought this house two months ago, three months ago. I'm... it's pretty enjoyable to see the first, you know, snowstorm of the season. And I have my family out here. We're all sharing it and enjoying it to clean up this little place of ours. So, this is really an enjoyable time for us."

18. SOUNDBITE (English) Lucy Rodriguez, Connecticut resident: "My name is Lucy Rodriguez. I'm 30 years old. I live in Stratford, Connecticut, and I have been living here for about 25 years now. It's pretty unusual that we would be having our first winter storm in February. Typically, we would be having this much earlier in the winter season, so we were not quite expecting a winter storm, at least the first one, in February. The snow is pretty compact. The roads are fairly bad. There's still about four inches of snow out here, which ... this is with plowing every hour since yesterday at about 9 o'clock. It's been a very unusual start of the year."
